Church planting is a top priority in our Association.  With 130 churches, some folks would suggest that we have enough churches in our region.  In reality, there are fewer churches per population in our region today than there were 50 or 25 years ago.  We are reaching a smaller percentage of the population today than we were in previous generations.  We must plant new churches.  New churches reach people,  New churches are able to quickly and accurately communicate the Gospel into a new culture or affinity group.

In our Association we are driven by our Lord's commission to his followers "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." Matt: 28:19.  The word "nations" is the translated from the Greek "ta ethne".  The meaning of "ta ethne" is groups, herds or swarms of people.  If Jesus wanted to refer to geopolitical region or  a city-state there were other words He could of used, but He chose "ta ethne" which understood to mean "groups of people".  We are to make disciples, (plant churches) in every group of people.

In BR-KC we understand that our region is not a pancake, but a waffle.   Pancakes are smooth and even.  In order to pour syrup on a pancake, you simply pour it on one spot and it flows all over the pancake and off the edge to the plate.  However, if you have a waffle and you want syrup in every pocket of the waffle, then you have to intentionally pour syrup in every pocket of the waffle.   Our region is a collection of "pockets" of people.  Much more like a waffle than a pancake. This is why we intentionally plant churches in BR-KC.  We want a church in every pocket of the waffle.  We need as many churches as we have pockets!
