The VISION 2020 Equipping Leaders Team has developed this “Tool Box” to assist churches in the Blue River-Kansas City Association to equip church leaders.

The Vision of the Leader - A one day workshop for pastors, staff, church planters, and church ministry leaders. Learn how to discern a vision from the Lord for your ministry and personal keys to implementing it as a leader. Also includes vision development insights and reflection.

Developing Your Vision & Strategy for Ministry - An intensive, missiologically-informed workshop. The workshop will result in a contextualized and customized master strategy plan for your ministry. Church
planters, pastors and staff teams, and ministry leaders will benefit greatly. There will be extensive preparation and post-workshop assignments. However if you make this investment, you can see the Lord shape and sharpen your ministry with many years of benefits.

Supervising Church Staff & Volunteers - Training for church leadership with supervisory responsibility. Subjects discussed are: Five Stages Toward Supervisory Excellence; Avoiding the Pitfalls of Selecting the Wrong Person; Four Essential Steps in Handling a Non-performer; How to Reinforce Strengths and Diminish Weaknesses.

Handling Conflict, Criticism and Difficult People in the Church - Seeks to help you understand who touches your “hot buttons” most often; How to maintain control while managing confrontation; How to defuse a really angry person; Developing the ability to express yourself sincerely.

Empowering Staff Members to Take Initiative and Accept Responsibility - Helps staff learn twelve distracters all professionals face; Discovering the all important first step in taking initiative; The “Time- Wheel” formula for taking initiative and accepting responsibility; How to “zero in” on the things that gives you purpose in work and career.

Time Management for Ministers and Staff - How to focus on what really counts in ministry; Discovering the right tools for organizing and planning; How to deal with changing priorities; The secret of cutting lengthy meetings in half.

Empowering Church Volunteers to Develop a Passion for Service - Guiding volunteers to take more initiative; Helping volunteers to be more accountable; How to build high quality team work; What motivates church volunteers.

L-E-A-D: a Personality Inventory - Developed by Dr. Walter Lacey and John J. Fanning, M.S. will lead participants to gain insight into their personality and how to relate to others.

Strategy Planning for Determining Minisrty and Activity Priorities - These sessions are designed to involve the leadership and congregation of the church in seeking the Lord’s direction, focusing on programs, personnel and resources for the next number of years. It involves the membership, with the leadership of the staff, to determine the Lord’s guidance in where the church should focus its attention. It will help to establish priorities of both the programs and major ministries. The result will help the church to know where to alocate resources and develop prorgam planning.

Mentoring- The Art of Successfully Developing Staff and Church Leadership - Mentoring is a structured series of processes designed to create effective relationships between mentor and protégé. This series provides guidance through a particular behavioral development or change that will further enhance the protégé’s ministry, improve his/her shills and allow him/her to become more mobile in the church. The process is of mutual benefit to the mentor, the protégé and the church. You will gain the tools for selecting, developing, implementing and evaluating an effective Mentoring process.

Understanding The Leadership Style That Will Enhance My Ministry - Most people in a leadership position will observe or study leaders they consider to be effective and try to imitate their style. We know that there is not just one leadership style that is effective. Leadership styles have a great deal to do with personality. The problem is when we try to imitate someone who has a totally different personality than us. It can be a great help and relief to discover our own personality and how it will enhance my effectiveness in leadership and ministry.

How to Preach & Teach the Word - Upon completion the seminar you will know how to identify the main idea of a Biblical text. You will also learn what the boundaries are in the development and communication of the idea. Finally, you will learn what you must do to form the idea in the minds of your listeners to make your sermon or your Sunday School lesson count.

R+R Ministries - Providing First Aid to Churches and Church Leaders: R+R (Reflection+Revitalization) is a ministry developed by Dr. David Schanuel of Kansas City. In 2001 he became the pastor of a struggling church of 30 people, and now the church runs nearly 200 in attendance. The members and leaders of the church are sharing their journey with other churches that have plateaued or are in decline. They will lead your church through a four-phase revitalization journey. They understand the loss of hope and the necessary dynamics for a church to recover from decline to health and growth.
